TL;DR

Before Endspire, another civilization stood here. Its collapse left behind haunted ruins, unstable machines, and arcane wreckage—now buried beneath the city or absorbed into its infrastructure.

The Forgotten Foundation

Endspire’s foundation platform was built atop:

  • Crumbling megastructures
  • Magical wells and fusion nodes
  • Ruined transit hubs and vault complexes

Even today:

  • Some machines still pulse faintly with power.
  • Walls shimmer with embedded tech.
  • Anomalies emerge, unexplainable and dangerous.

These ruins are often mistaken for natural formations or harmless civic irregularities—until they are not.

Echoes of War

Legends speak of:

  • Titans and gods walking the land in an age of raw creation.
  • The Chainbound God and The Nameless, participants in or survivors of a celestial conflict.
  • The Arcane Singularity, a moment when magic and machine blurred.

The war—if it can be called that—seems to have erased its own record.

Modern Influence

Despite secrecy, the city’s magitech revolution owes much to:

  • Studying relic fragments
  • Reverse-engineering crystal arrays
  • Extracting guidance from still-active ruins

Guilds hide these origins to maintain intellectual property and arcane control.

Unanswered Questions

  • Who built the machines?
  • Were the gods c reators—or destroyers?
  • What did the war try to stop?
  • Are the storms above and below remnants—or warnings?

DM Note Certain areas of the city sit atop sealed vaults still warded by ancient glyphs. Scholars speculate that Storm’s Echo is a recurring signal from one of these sealed sites. Some Council members fear that the city itself is a containment field—not a sanctuary.
